Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez authored nine books and lectured around the world about his nutritional enzyme treatment for cancer. He developed The Gonzalez Protocol® - customized nutritional protocols based on individual diet, supplements and detoxification. Dr. Gonzalez treated thousands of patients from around the world in his private practice in New York City from 1987 until his untimely death in July 2015.

Dr. Gonzalez graduated from Brown University, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, pursued premedical studies at Columbia University as a postgraduate student and received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. He subsequently completed fellowship training in immunology.

Nicholas Gonzalez’s life story is an inspiration. This book takes you on a journey beginning with his family origins in Mexico and Italy. His Mexican ancestors survived revolution, war, and very difficult circumstances but throughout all that they thrived as musicians and as a tight-knit family. The story of his Mexican ancestors just barely making it through Ellis Island is very moving, like many things in the book. Nicholas James Gonzalez was born in Queens, NY in 1947 and died at his NYC home on July 21, 2015. Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez graduated from Brown University, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, with a degree in English Literature.
